Katrina kaif in simple

How to wear make-up like a model

My Katrina Kaif

Have you always wondered how models look so gorgeous on the ramp or how celebrities carry that extra glitter at a film premiere? Why is it so difficult to do make-up without looking garish? And what's the best way to get a soft look for the day?

We got makeover expert Cory Walia to unravel some of his secrets. Walia was in the middle of giving Katrina Kaif a day look, and model Indrani Dasgupta a shimmering look for the evening. He took us through the process...

For Katrina's face

Blend a (suitable) light shade of daily wear soufflé over your skin in upward strokes on the face and neck. Conceal any dark circles or blemishes under the eyes with a concealer to create beautiful flawless skin. For definition, blush the cheeks. If you want a very soft look, use a pink and peach blusher. If you have a honey-coloured complexion, go for a soft brown blusher. A compact is also very handy in humid weather.

For the eyes

Outline the lower eyelid with soft pink or soft brown eye shadow. Fill it in with a light pink shimmer eye cube for a twinkle. You can then highlight it with liquid roll-on in gold.

Let your lips do the talking

Try a generous coat of pink or light brown lip gloss for a glossy pout. This will give you a nice, juicy look. For your nails, you can use a glossy nail paint to go with your outfit or stick to a pink or maroon, matching what you wear.

For Indrani's evening look

Blend a suitable shade of foundation over your skin in upward strokes on the face and neck. You can then conceal any dark circles under the eyes with a concealer. Highlight the cheekbones with a dark shade blusher.

For the eyes, add two more stars to the night. Evenly apply a shimmer cube on the upper eyelid. For a more defined look, smudge the corners with the same colour, and finish by highlighting your eyes with a kohl sparkler. Sweep a coat of thick lash mascara for a more dramatic look. For lips, apply a base coat, then accentuate with lip gloss. You could add some shimmer to your nails too. Use plain paint, let it dry, then add a coat of shimmer nail gloss.
